meet the honey bees
Pine Hollow first brought honey bees onto the farm in 2018. To say the first year had a learning curve is putting it lightly. There was a lot of information to learn and apply to keeping honey bees. One major learning point we did not anticipate was that the surrounding wildlife. We had a family of Black Bears visit the hives and pretty much destroyed everything. Not giving up, we brought on five more hives the following summer and built a sturdy fence to keep the bears out. Over the years, we have continued to steadily grow the apiary to 20 colonies.
